(WOODLAND PARK, Colo.) — The Woodland Park Police Department (WPPD) is warning locals of a couple with an infant who are targeting shoppers at local businesses and trying to sell fake jewelry to people.
WPPD posted about the scam on Facebook on Monday, Feb. 27, and said its department has received reports of the scam occurring in the city of Woodland Park, and it is likely happening more broadly in Teller County.
WPPD said Walmart and local gas stations have been targeted by a man and woman who have an infant with them. WPPD said the couple will approach people asking for money for fake jewelry items.
“The suspects may be Middle Eastern, speak with broken accents and can appear aggressive with their behavior,” WPPD said in its Facebook post.
WPPD warned community members not to buy anything from these suspects, and to report any suspicious interactions with them to law enforcement.
