(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A child was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a fire at an apartment complex near Vickers Drive and Academy Boulevard on Saturday morning, Mar. 9, 2024.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) was on scene at the fire around 7 a.m. and reported that the bulk of the fire was knocked down at 8:30 a.m. CSFD said the smoke alarms in the building were all working, and only one apartment was evacuated.

The child was the only person taken to the hospital.
