(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said it is working on a barricaded suspect situation in southeast Colorado Springs after its officers responded to an apartment complex regarding a domestic disturbance possibly involving a firearm.
CSPD said that at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, officers responded to the Bell Tower Apartments near the intersection of East Fountain and South Murray Boulevards.
When officers arrived, they found the victim with injuries, but no gunshot wounds and said the suspect barricaded themselves in an apartment with a firearm. As of Thursday afternoon just after 12:40 p.m. patrol and tactical units were still on the scene, attempting to take the suspect into custody.
CSPD said there is no shelter-in-place order but added that could change as the situation develops. Police are asking people to avoid the area.
FOX21 News has a crew on the scene and will update this article as soon as we know more.
