City of Manitou Springs to give out free mulch

(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The City of Manitou Springs is inviting the community to load up on free mulch on Friday, June 7.

Residents of Manitou Springs are welcome to bring buckets, trucks, and trailers to the Public Services Yard located at 101 Banks Place on June 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Those who make it to the entrance after 6:30 p.m. will be unable to be accommodated by the city.

The city said mulch helps conserve and extend available water, protects the soil from erosion, reduces competition by depressing weeds, and moderates temperature.

The mulch is made up of local trees from the Chipper Days events and the Neighborhood Chipping service. The city said the mulch is clean and ready to use.

Heavy equipment will be available to help load, and there will be a signed liability waiver on-site during the event.
