(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) has released the names of two of the deputies involved in the shooting that took place on Tuesday, June 4, in unincorporated El Paso County.
According to EPSO, the communications center received a call around 10 a.m. on June 4, reporting an ongoing disturbance between several adults, including one reportedly armed man, in the 4300 block of Chamberlin South, near Academy and B Street. One man was identified as possibly having a warrant out for his arrest.
When deputies arrived, they encountered an armed man, and during the encounter, two deputies fired at least one round, according to EPSO. The suspect then allegedly fled in a stolen and unmarked EPSO vehicle.
Using tracking technology, the vehicle was located at the Sienna Place Apartments, where deputies arrested the suspect without incident and gave him medical aid before an ambulance transported him to the hospital.
The two deputies involved in the incident have been identified by EPSO as Deputy Chad Johnson, who has been with EPSO since 2013, and Sergeant Jared Harmon, who has been with the office since 2004. Both have been placed on administrative leave, per EPSO policies, as the Colorado Springs Police Department investigates the officer-involved shooting.
