(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs Utilities announced on Thursday, June 27 it has successfully removed the old dam near Eleven Mile State Park.
The removal of the dam enhances the aquatic habitat and water quality, in addition to improving recreational access in the community.
The Lake George Diversion Dam Removal Collaborative is comprised of Colorado Springs Utilities staff, U.S. Forest Service, and the CUSP for the Upper South Platte. Most recently they earned a U.S Forest Service’s Collaborative/Integrated Aquatic Stewardship Award.
