(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Starting Monday, July 1, El Paso County will begin construction on Vollmer Road to remove a section of the existing roadway and widen the road.

Construction on Vollmer Road at Hardin Road will add left turn lanes at this intersection. The road work will be completed in two phases (north and south sides of Hardin Road) and is expected to be completed between three to four weeks, weather permitting.

Vollmer Road will be closed to all through traffic and the only access will be to the school on the west side of the road and residents on Hardin. Access to residents and businesses before and after the work zone along Vollmer Road will still be open.

Detours will be in place, see the map above. El Paso County reminds drivers to reduce speeds in work zones and watch for workers, equipment, signs, and barricades.
