(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department reported a grass fire near Highway 24 on Thursday evening, Aug. 1.

CSFD announced via X (formerly known as Twitter) that it is currently battling a grass fire near Highway 24 west of 8th Street.

As of 7:01 p.m., the fire department said the majority of the fire had been knocked down.

“Crews are continuing to respond to the area to help with mop-up,” said CSFD. “Please be aware of fire crews responding and working.”

CSFD is asking individuals to avoid the area.
