(PUEBLO, Colo.) — One person and a dog were found dead inside a home in Bessemer and another person was taken to the hospital after a house fire on Wednesday, Aug. 28, according to the Pueblo Fire Department (PFD).
PFD said crews responded around 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday to a report of a house fire in the 1800 block of East Evans Avenue, in a neighborhood northeast of Lake Minnequa.
When firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed in flames, and during a preliminary search, crews found one person dead and another injured inside. The injured person was taken to the hospital, though their condition is unknown as of Wednesday afternoon. A dog was also found dead inside the home, PFD said.
PFD said the fire has been extinguished, and crews remain on the scene to conduct a standard investigation alongside the Pueblo Police Department.
