Elijah “Swift” Smith fighting for UFC contract

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — As soon as the high school door closes, another one opens, where one must decide what they want to do for the rest of their life.

Sierra High School graduate Elijah Smith thought his plan was to play college football. Now he is on the path to becoming a UFC fighter.

When COVID-19 shut down the world, Smith picked up fighting with his dad at Victory MMA gym in Colorado Springs. His dad, Gilbert Smith, is the owner of the gym and a coach. Additionally, he was a UFC fighter himself.

Elijah Smith made his professional MMA debut at 19 years old and has been training nonstop ever since.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, Smith will fight in front of UFC owner, Dana Smith, and if he wins he will be given the opportunity to sign a contract with the UFC.

There will be a watch party held for the fight on Tuesday at Trainwreck in Colorado Springs beginning at 6 p.m. where you can cheer him on!
