(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A mechanic in Colorado Springs said his livelihood was stolen early Monday morning, Sept. 23 from right in front of his house. He said it took place at around 3:00 a.m. in a neighborhood off of Austin Bluffs Parkway.
Anthony Stoltzfus, the Mobile Auto Services Owner and Operator, said his home security video shows a truck driving off with his trailer, with all of his equipment inside.

“So I have to start completely over, from scratch,” said Stoltzfus.
He said not long after he realized it was missing, someone found his trailer dumped in a field, nearly empty.
“It [was] 10 years of accumulation of tools in there. I’m gonna say it’s anywhere from $30-50,000 worth of tools,” said Stoltzfus.

With three children at home, Stoltzfus said the Mobile Auto Service is his sole source of income. Without his tools, he’s now without work.
“My whole business, my whole livelihood was in that trailer. I was supposed to go to work at 8:30 for my first job, but I found out at 7:30 I didn’t have any tools to work with. So I had to contact them and say, ‘Hey, I’ll have to reschedule you because I don’t have anything to work with, I was robbed last night,'” said Stoltzfus.
He said his customers so far have been understanding, but with all his specialty tools missing, it could be a long time before things are fully straightened out.
“You know, what I thought was secure, was not as secure as I thought. I mean, the truck was parked in front and I had it locked. They were smart, they figured out ways around it,” said Stoltzfus.
He hopes to have his business back up and running by the end of the week. He said he’s filed a report with insurance and police.
