(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Oct. 8 on the southeast side of Colorado Springs.
According to CSPD, 28-year-old Jose Luis Miranda Reza died as a a result of gunshot wounds sustained in a shooting in the 2600 block of Durango Drive, near the Hancock Expressway and Delta Drive.
CSPD said officers originally responded to a report of a shooting at the Durango Drive address around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, and when they got to the scene, they found Reza dead.
While the El Paso County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death, Reza’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
The investigation is ongoing, and CSPD said it is still working on developing suspect information. This is the 35th homicide in Colorado Springs in 2024. At the same time in 2023, there had been 26 homicides.
