Small business conference helps veteran entrepreneurs

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center (SBDC) along with the Colorado Veterans Business Outreach Center and the Colorado Minority Business Office is holding the 17th annual Veterans Small Business Conference to help veteran entrepreneurs on Friday, Nov. 1 at the Great Wolf Lodge.

The conference allows veterans to learn about starting or growing a small business, resources, and access to capital to lay the foundation for successful businesses.

The 17th annual conference is presented by Huntington Bank and will feature expert speakers, practical training sessions, and a variety of exhibitors. SBDC said attendees will learn how to leverage their existing skills to lay the foundation for a successful business. Those who already run a business will be given the opportunity to grow their operations through government contracting, improved marketing efforts, education on certifications, and more.

“Veterans bring unparalleled leadership skills and resilience to entrepreneurship,” said Brandon Eldridge, Executive Director of the Pikes Peak SBDC. “This conference is our way of honoring their service by equipping them with the tools they need to build successful businesses. We are excited to create a supportive environment where veterans can connect with industry leaders, investors, and fellow entrepreneurs.”

According to the Small Business Administration, Colorado is home to 48,803 veteran-owned small businesses that contribute $23 billion to the state economy and employ more than 96,000 people.
