(COLORADO) — November has come and gone but last month’s weather data shows the weather was helpful for water supply.
For the most part, most of November had below-normal temperatures with 19 days that were cooler than average and only nine days that were warmer than average. The domination of cooler weather last month is mostly due to waves of winter weather.
Some places in the region received multiple feet of snow, especially in the higher terrain. The higher snow amounts mean good news for the snowpack around the state, where all places except the North Platte River Basin are now at 100% or above normal levels. A higher snowpack definitely helps our water supply going into 2025.
What forecasters are watching out for now is how things go weather-wise from December 2024 to February 2025. The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) shows a preview of what could happen for the next three months. These previews aren’t a forecast but can indicate if it is more or less likely for certain conditions to occur.
According to the CPC, the next three months look about average for Southern Colorado however, the three-month outlook shows that there could potentially be a drier winter period. Only time will tell.
