COS Airport maintains smooth operations despite holiday traffic

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — If you are traveling today, you may want to get to your terminal a little earlier than usual to the airport and be extra safe and beat all the holiday traffic.

Individuals traveling out of Denver International Airport (DIA) on Friday were met with delayed flights, and long security checkpoint lines and was even ranked as the third worst airport in the U.S. as of 1:30 p.m.

Although Friday, Dec. 27 is one of the busiest travel days of the year, Colorado Springs (COS) Airport is keeping things speedy and on time. FOX21 News reached out to the airport, who said they have not had any significant delays or cancellations so far.

“During peak travel times, we encourage those traveling or picking up to allow yourself additional time as the parking lots and flights are more full and there are just more people traveling, overall,” said Marketing and Communications Manager Aidan Ryan.

As for parking shuttles running from COS Ryan said the shuttles are running to overflow parking and back.

The COS Airport encourages those who are flying out of the Springs to follow signage to long-term parking if it is open or continue to overflow.

While COS had no cancellations on Friday, Ryan did tell FOX21 News there were eight delays, one cancellation due to weather and one due to operational reasons on Thursday, Dec. 26.
