(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSPD) is responding to a two-alarm house fire off East Fillmore Street.

CSFD posted about the fire in the 2900 block of Illinois Avenue, east of I-25 and Fillmore, shortly after 8 p.m. on New Year’s Day. CSFD said there was a “heavy body of fire” in the backyard that had spread to the home.

About seven minutes later, CSFD said additional resources had been requested to fight the fire. CSFD asked the community to avoid the area, and warned that traffic would be impacted on Fillmore near the fire. Alternate routes are encouraged.
