(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A local business owner in Colorado Springs has started a fundraiser to support the victims of fires raging in California, including her sister, who recently lost her home in Altadena.
Rochelle Janecek, Owner of Colorado Salt Cave Wellness Center, appeared on FOX21’s lifestyle show, Loving Living Local, on Wednesday, Jan. 15 about the fundraiser and how people can help.

“Well, everyone has watched and seen [the fires in California]—it’s heartbreaking, and Colorado has gone through so many fires, but this one hits close to home. This is my family, this is where I grew up, and this is my sister, she lost her home on Wednesday,” Janecek said while pointing to her sister, Sharlene’s photo on a fundraiser flyer.
Janecek said she had an overwhelming feeling of, ‘What can I do to help?’ so she seized the opportunity to start a fundraiser. “My sister is important to my business, which is brand new,” she said. “I want to be able to help her as best we can.”
Janecek said on Monday, Jan. 20, 100% of the proceeds from any purchase of goods and services at Colorado Salt Cave Wellness Center will be donated, along with free Salt Cave Sessions with a donation of any amount.
“I know Monday is the ice freeze, so I tell people, if they can come in earlier, that would be great,” added Janecek.
To donate, community members can visit the front desk at the Colorado Salt Cave Wellness Center on Monday, which is located at 4647 Centennial Boulevard. Aside from purchasing items at the store, people can also donate by dropping off gift cards or giving through the GoFundMe.
“Gift cards for food, gift cards for clothing, just different things that will help them get on their feet again, is kind of what we’re looking for,” she explained. “I think if you don’t act now, you kind of just expect other people to do it, and everyone, I think, has a heart, they just don’t know what [they should do], so I’m like, let me give that opportunity.”
Janecek said that her sister has not only been one of the biggest supporters of her business but throughout her life, too, that she hopes to give back in whatever ways she can. “This is a really small way that I can just do something for her, and for our friends and that community, Altadena is just the neatest community.”
