Colorado Springs Police Department to graduate 80th Recruit Class on Thursday

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — 23 recruits are set to graduate from the 80th Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Training Academy on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 27.

According to CSPD, the recruits have gone through 26 weeks of intensive training and following their graduation, the new officers will spend the next 15 weeks in field training before going out on their own.

“This class has much to be proud of, not just in their collective resilience but also in the backgrounds and experiences they bring,” wrote CSPD.

Facts about the 80th Recruit Class:

The recruits come from nine different states and three different countries.

14 graduates have served, or are currently serving, in the Armed Forces.

There are three graduates with master’s degrees, five with bachelor’s degrees, seven with associate’s degrees, and the rest with some level of college education.

The graduation ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. on Thursday. FOX21 News will be in attendance at the event and will update this article with more information as we receive it.
