(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) arrested a 35-year-old man after he allegedly robbed a store and pointed a “finger gun” at the clerk.
On Sunday, March 23 at around 10:46 p.m., CSPD officers responded to the 1100 block of North Newport Road, near Powers Boulevard, for a robbery alarm. Upon arrival, officers determined that the suspect had entered the store, pointed a finger gun at the clerk, and told him it was a robbery.
The suspect allegedly went through the store and took “numerous items” including a fountain drink. CSPD said the suspect used course language that intimidated the store clerk and put him in fear of physical harm from the suspect.
Officers later located the suspect vehicle, a pink GMC Yukon, and attempted a stop which was unsuccessful. Officers in an unmarked police car later saw the Yukon at a Maverick gas station; they moved in and blocked the vehicle. Officers then learned that the suspect’s daughter was in the passenger seat and the suspect would not let his daughter exit the car.
“…an extraction of the daughter was performed for her own safety,” CSPD said.
The suspect, 35-year-old Antonio Taylor, was taken into custody for numerous charges including robbery.
