On Monday, March 31, CSPD announced that K9 Loki will receive a bullet and stab-protective vest after Colorado Springs locals Laura and Tom Kelecy sponsored the donation through the organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest will be embroidered with the words “Gifted by Laura & Tom Kelecy in K9 Britta’s Memory.” The vest should be delivered within ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. was established in 2009 and its mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The body armor is made in the U.S., custom-fitted, and is certified by the National Institute of Justice. The organization has provided over 5,970 vests, valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states.
