(MANITOU SPRINGS) — The City of Manitou Springs has enacted mandatory water restrictions for all the community and businesses due to elevated water turbidity levels.
The City is monitoring conditions, however, all outdoor watering is prohibited beginning Sunday, May 11. Individuals are also asked to significantly reduce indoor water use, including:
Laundry
Running dishwashers
Other non-essential activities that require substantial water
Elevated water turbidity means there is a higher concentration of particles, which may signal harmful contaminants. High turbidity levels were reported at French Creek by the City following a storm on Tuesday, May 6.
These precautions are necessary to preserve the City’s drinking water supply for the next three to four days. Due to the water restrictions, the Pool and Fitness Center will be closed on Monday, May 12. All programs are also canceled.
“At this time, we are hopeful to be open for normal operation on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, but an update will be provided once available,” the City said.
Restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.
