PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Barry Morphew arrested, indicted on murder of wife, Suzanne Morphew

Earlier in June, a grand jury returned an indictment charging Barry Morphew with the murder of his wife, after an investigative report revealed that an animal tranquilizer had already started being metabolized by Suzanne at the time of her death.

Suzanne’s body was found in 2023, three years after her disappearance, in what the DA’s Office called a “shallow clandestine grave” near Highway 17 in Saguache County, less than an hour south of the Morphew home. The DA’s Office said in the indictment that a tranquilizer rifle was found in a gun safe along with darts and capped hypodermic needles used to load the darts. A hypodermic needle cap was found in the dryer at the Morphew home after the dryer’s contents were removed.

The report also stated that the only private citizen in the state with access to the particular kind of tranquilizer found in Suzanne’s system at the time was Barry.

Barry Morphew was arrested in Arizona on June 20 following the indictment, and is being held in the Alamosa County Jail after being extradited back to Colorado.

FOX21 News will be covering Barry Morphew’s appearance in court and will update this article when more information becomes available.
