EPSO: Two killed in shooting, looking for person of interest

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) is currently investigating a shooting and looking for a person of interest after they responded to a call for service on Thursday night, June 3.

At around 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, EPSO received a call for a robbery on Highway 85, between Main Street and Academy Boulevard. The Fountain Police Department (FPD) also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found two people dead.

The Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for one person of interest, 23-year-old Eddie La Charles Jackson.

Highway 85 will remain closed for several hours. According to an EPSO spokesperson, the road is not expected to open until noon.

During the incident, a patrol car with a deputy inside was struck by a suspected drunk driver. According to EPSO, the patrol car was blocking traffic when it was hit. The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash and the suspected DUI.
