CSPD: Man arrested after attempting to fight bar patrons

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) arrested a man after he attempted to fight individuals at a bar and cause minor injuries to an officer.

At around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, officers were dispatched to a bar in the 7600 block of North Union Boulevard, near Briargate Boulevard, on a report of a disturbance involving a man who was attempting to fight bar patrons and was being physically restrained by bar staff.

Upon arrival, the suspect began a verbal altercation with a woman at the residence and became combative with officers. While attempting to detain the man, he punched one CSPD officer in the face and caused minor injuries to another while he was being placed in custody. Both officers remained on duty.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Ruben Lovoto, was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer, Obstruction, and Resisting Arrest, and was booked into the El Paso Criminal Justice Center (CJC) on Thursday morning, July 24.
