Pueblo police investigate homicide on south side

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) is investigating after a man was shot and killed on the south side of Pueblo on Monday morning, July 28.

According to PPD, officers responded to a report of a possible shooting shortly after 9 a.m. in the 600 block of East Arroyo Avenue, east of the Northern Avenue exit of I-25. When officers arrived, they found an adult man in the street with an apparent gunshot wound.

PPD said the man was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. Detectives with the Pueblo Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Division have responded to investigate, though PPD said it is investigating this as a homicide–the city’s seventh of 2025.

This is an isolated incident, PPD said, and there does not appear to be any ongoing threat to the community.

PPD is asking anyone with information on this incident to contact Detective Hector Herrera at (719) 553-3336 or Pueblo Crime Stoppers at (719) 542-STOP (7867).
