Victim from fatal SUV vs. motorcycle crash identified

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The victim from a fatal crash at Constitution Avenue and Sierra Drive on Tuesday, July 29, has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office as 28-year-old Christopher James Easton, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

Officers originally responded to a crash between a motorcycle and an SUV at the intersection near North Powers Boulevard around 9 p.m. on July 29. The motorcycle driver, a man, and a passenger of the motorcycle, a woman, were injured. Both the motorcyclist and the passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment. The man later died of his injuries.


Crash at Constitution and Sierra takes life

According to CSPD, the investigation revealed that as the SUV was entering the intersection southbound on Sierra Drive, the motorcycle came into the intersection traveling westbound on Constitution in the right lane. The motorcycle veered to the left to avoid the SUV, which was turning left onto Constitution. The motorcycle hit the left side of the SUV, throwing both the motorcyclist and the passenger.

On Wednesday, July 30, the coroner’s office conducted an autopsy and identified Easton.

This was the 34th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2025. At this time in 2024, there had been 32 traffic-related fatalities.
