Heroes Helping Heroes to serve veterans Sept. 13

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — One of the largest veteran service acts in the state is happening Saturday, Sept. 13, at Colorado State University Pueblo. It’s called Heroes Helping Heroes, and is organized by the Southern Colorado Veterans Food Distribution and Care and Share Food Bank.

What makes this program special is that it’s not just giving away a small portion of food or toiletries, but is actually offering two weeks of groceries to veteran families in need.

“Veterans told us that they were able to pay a month of gas, water, and electric bills because of this program. Others fixed cars, paid rent, or purchased school supplies. Some of those hardest hit expressed that they may have gone hungry if not for the program,” according to Southern Colorado Veterans Food Distribution.

The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 13, outside of the CSU Pueblo Physics and Math Building at 2200 Bonforte Boulevard.
