(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) has released video of a critical incident that happened in June 2025.

According to PPD, on June 3, at around 1:30 p.m., officers contacted an alleged shoplifter at Famous Footwear at 5765 North Elizabeth Street. The suspect ran from the business and was pursued by officers on foot. Police saw the suspect pull out a handgun, and he ignored repeated commands to drop the weapon.

Officers in a police truck pursued the suspect through a field, and as he approached a parking lot filled with vehicles, the Officers hit the suspect with the truck.

PPD said officers attempted lifesaving measures; however, the suspect died on the scene. PPD said the suspect will be identified after appropriate notifications.

The 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Team, led by Colorado State Patrol, was called to take over the investigation.
