(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The City of Pueblo said it will begin repairs on the Mel Harmon Bridge on Monday, Nov. 3, which will close the bridge until the project is finished.
The City estimates the project will be completed on Monday, April 6, 2026. All businesses in the area will remain open and can be accessed via the frontage road off of West 29th Street. Detour routes will be clearly marked and available for alternate access.

“The Mel Harmon Bridge rehabilitation project requires a closure, but there is still access available to the businesses located along the frontage road. There will be no utilization of the structure until the upgrades are complete in early April,” said Director of Public Works Andrew Hayes. “We appreciate the public’s patience with the project and encourage everyone to plan for extra travel time as safety is the utmost priority,” Hayes continued.
The project will include resurfacing, structural repairs, and safety upgrades. The project is being funded through the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) through grants and has been awarded a total of $1,215,880. The grants required a 20% match from the City of Pueblo, or $303,970.
