Dog missing for months in Fremont County found with drone

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. — The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) was able to reunite a dog that had been lost for months with her family, all thanks to some ingenuity and a drone.

FCSO posted about the sweet reunion on their Facebook page. In the post, FCSO said Farah, a golden retriever, was lost several months ago when the car she was in was involved in an accident.

On Sunday, FCSO’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) team deployed a drone in the area where Farah was last seen. Within minutes, deputies spotted the golden on the drone’s infrared camera. Finally, after waiting months, Farah was reunited with her family.

FCSO said Farah is safely on her way home, and the UAS team was grateful for the opportunity to practice some very valuable search and rescue techniques with their drone.
