19-year-old woman arrested in Pueblo shooting of teen

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) arrested a 19-year-old woman on Wednesday, July 10 in connection to a shooting that left a teenager wounded and in serious condition.

On Wednesday afternoon, PPD received information about a 17-year-old boy who was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound and was in serious condition. Officers were able to determine he was possibly shot at a home in the 2400 block of Lake Ave.


Shooting suspect captured in Pueblo

Suspect information was developed and officers attempted to contact 19-year-old Mariah Jaramillo at the residence. After several attempts by police and negotiators to have Jaramillo exit the residence without success, a search warrant for the residence was drafted and granted.

The Pueblo Police Department SWAT team responded to the scene to assist in contacting the suspect.

Eventually, Jaramillo was contacted and taken into custody peacefully.

Jaramillo was transferred to the Pueblo County Detention Center and booked in on charges of First-Degree Assault, Domestic Violence, and Violation of a Protection Order. The 17-year-old boy remains in serious condition at the hospital.
