(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the victim in a fatal crash on North Union Boulevard near Vickers Drive on Saturday, Aug. 9, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD reported that around 6 p.m. on Aug. 9, officers responded to the crash on Union at Garmish Road, where they found that a motorcyclist had hit an SUV. The motorcycle rider was declared dead at the scene by first responders.
The Major Crash Team investigated the scene and determined that speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.
On Monday, Aug. 11, the coroner’s office conducted an autopsy on the motorcyclist and identified him as 20-year-old Spencer Lehmkuhl.
According to CSPD, this is the 35th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2025. At this time in 2024, there were 37.
