(TRINIDAD, Colo.) — A survey by American River Wellness interviewed over 3,000 drivers to find the best public restroom in each state.

According to American River Wellness, an online panel survey of 3,017 drivers was conducted based on age, gender, and geography.

The survey found that many of the highest-ranked stops as set against stunning natural backdrops. American River Wellness said drivers wanted more than just facilities, they wanted something that offered a moment to breathe, stretch, and reconnect with the world beyond the windshield.

The survey also found that higher-ranked restrooms were featured in hospitality-driven welcome centers offering first-class restrooms. There was a split between drivers who like restrooms in peaceful scenic stops and those who wanted restrooms in modern, polished plazas.

American River Wellness said a clean restroom can change the mood of a long journey. The highest-rated towns with the best restrooms show that small investments in comfort, cleanliness, and care have a ripple effect that travelers remember long after returning on the road.

For Colorado, the survey found the Trinidad Welcome Center off of I-25 was the highest-rated public restroom.
