24-point ticket written for speeding and reckless driving

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Over Memorial Day weekend the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) said its deputies were focused on the roads, and ticketed those who chose to drive carelessly.

According to EPSO, the highest ticket written was for a driver allegedly going 102 mph in a 55 mph zone, the driver was cited for reckless driving and failure to stop at a traffic control signal. The driver was also given a 24-point ticket and a mandatory court appearance.

EPSO said its deputies are on the roads day or night doing their part in keeping drivers, passengers, and pedestrians safe, but they cannot do it alone.

“Please take the time to talk to your family and friends about the importance of following posted speed limits, putting cellphones down, and driving without distractions,” writes EPSO.
