(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The City of Colorado Springs has started re-paving projects throughout the city using voter-approved 2C tax funds.
The City started in the Broadmoor Bluffs Neighborhood in May, but plans to expand their workload for the summer.
“This year, we’re focused mostly to the west side of the city, but we’re going to be hitting Bridle Pass Drive. We’re going to be hitting Test Drive, which is nearby there, Oro Blanco, we are going to be on Flying W Ranch,” said Bryan Wilson, the City’s Operations Manager for 2C.
Work is also planned for other streets across the City.
They will use an O-C-I index to make sure they are hitting streets that are right in the sweet spot of being in good condition and needing a full repair.
“They give us a score on a 0 to 100 scale.” Wilson commented, “The 2C program focuses on roads that are between a 30 O-C-I value and 70 because those are roads that have significant distress.”
The city also said if your road is in need of repair, to “be patient” because if there are water lines underneath that also need replacing in the next couple of years, they want to hold off so the road isn’t patched with repairs just a couple years later.
