DENVER (KDVR) — Multiple emergency response agencies are currently on scene of a “large” brush fire near Perry Park in Douglas County.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the fire is burning near 5500 South Perry Park Road and currently is covering about 60 acres.
Also on scene are Castle Rock Fire and Rescue, South Metro Fire Rescue and Larkspur Fire Department. DCSO issued a pre-evacuation notice for Perry Park Road south of Tomah Road due to the grass fire just before 2 p.m.
“If you are concerned about your safety or believe you are in danger, do not wait for an official evacuation order – leave immediately,” the agency said on social media.
The agency advised all in the area to prepare for evacuation by arranging transportation, relocating livestock or large animals, and packing essential items like medications or infant-care items. Only dial 911 in the case of an emergency.
Friday’s weather was forecasted to be warm and windy, with northwesterly winds averaging 5-15 mph. The National Weather Service Boulder reported mild, dry and breezy conditions will lead to “near-critical fire weather conditions” for lower elevations on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25, leading to critical conditions on Monday, Feb. 26, and extremely critical conditions after that.
SkyFOX was at the location Thursday afternoon where smoke was visible from miles away. The blaze appeared to be spreading relatively slowly.
FOX31 has a crew on its way to this scene. This is a developing story and will be updated when information is available.
