(FORT CARSON, Colo.) — According to Fort Carson Army Post’s Public Affairs office, a second wildland fire broke out on Training Range 153, near the eastern perimeter. The fire began at about 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26.
The fire has burned around 100 acres at the time of the report but is moving quickly due to high winds. All Fort Carson fire crews are on hand to contain the fire and additional off-post assets are responding.
While the fire is located near the wildland fire that was previously reported to have burned approximately 700 acres, there is no clear indication yet if these two fires are connected. There are still no structures or personnel threatened at this time. Smoke will continue to be visible between the eastern Fort Carson perimeter line and I-25.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
