Three local businesses unite as one

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — What was once three separate local businesses is now one. The Local Honey Collective and other local spots have found their new home at The Shoppe, which celebrated its grand opening this weekend.

“I just never would have expected it. And now that it’s here, it just feels surreal,” says Katie Paris the founder of Kamps Good.

It’s a dream come true for three local businesses. The Local Honey Collective, Kamp Goods, and Idyll Manor have chosen collaboration, instead of competition forming The Shoppe.

“I feel just really proud that we’re able to as to three different businesses collaborate together as women and empower each other as women together and not have competition, but really be boosting their business,” said Hannah Duffy the founder of Idyll Manor.

The idea began back in December when a fire in downtown Colorado Springs destroyed The Local Honey Collective’s boutique and much of its inventory.

“All their inventory got damaged and so they were without a location, and I was in a pop-up, so I knew that I needed a permanent home too,” said Duffy.

The fire also destroyed multiple other surrounding businesses like Taste of Jerusalem Cafe and Icons Bar, but luckily it all worked out.

Hannah Duffy was once a middle school history teacher but decided to take a chance and invest in herself and her new business, Idyll Manor.

“I think I feel most proud that my husband and I took the risk, and we did, we left our stable jobs,” says Duffy.

And for Katie Paris, she found an opportunity to make her dreams come true.

“They asked if I was interested in ever having a storefront and for me just having a small little pottery business, I just never thought that would ever be an option, she said.

Katie developed her love for ceramics at a young age and began teaching classes, but she never thought she would have the opportunity to own a store.

Together, the three stores are empowering each other through their unique creative perspectives and hope to make a positive impact on the community.
