(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A grass fire that broke out on the north side of Pueblo on Friday, April 5 during high winds and a weekend marked by high fire danger is now 100% contained.
According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), the Vision Hills Fire burned 107 acres, but no structures were damaged and there were no injuries.
The fire was reported as 100% contained at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, April 8.
The fire was first reported by PCSO around 12:40 p.m. on Friday near Jerry Murphy Road and Vision Hills Parkway.
Crews from multiple agencies responded, homes in the area were evacuated, several road closures were in effect, and a public health alert was issued for those living in Pueblo County for people to stay inside and avoid outdoor activities due to the multiple fires that broke out.
The air quality advisory was lifted over the weekend.
“Our partners at U.S. EPA Region 8 conducted air quality monitoring in many of the areas surrounding this weekend’s fires. Results showed significant improvement in air quality throughout Saturday,” wrote the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment.
PCSO said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
