(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded to a house fire over the weekend that displaced a family.
CSFD said on Saturday, April 6 at around 4 p.m. crews responded to the house fire in the 200 block of Willow Street off of East Platte Avenue. A little after fire crews arrived, a second alarm was called.
The bulk of the fire was knocked down around 4:30 p.m. and CSFD said there were no injuries.
“We really want our residents to stay safe. Make sure you are taking that extra second to check around your home, check outside your home,” said Ashley Franco, Public Information Officer for CSFD. “Make sure you are turning things off, make sure cigarette butts are completely out, make sure candles are completely out… because we know with this wind that fire can pick up really rapidly.”
A total of 55 firefighters responded to the fire, and the cause remains under investigation. Due to the fire, two adults, two children, and two dogs are displaced.
