(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A woman who was arrested on kidnapping and assault charges is facing additional charges after she allegedly kicked and tried to bite two officers who were taking her to jail.
According to arrest papers, 35-year-old Linda Guest was arrested on June 10 after she and another woman, 24-year-old Joseary Arizmendi, were identified as suspects in the kidnapping and assault of a man and woman that reportedly lasted days.
Arrest papers for Arizmendi allege that she and Guest were responsible for threatening the two victims at gunpoint and taking them to another apartment in the same complex off Hancock Expressway on Saturday, June 8, then pistol-whipping and beating the victims with a baseball bat for up to two days.
Guest was arrested on Monday, June 10 in connection to that case, and during her arrest, she allegedly caused injury to herself before also assaulting two police officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). The arrest papers state that Guest injured herself in police custody by slamming her head into multiple walls and the police car in which she was placed.
Guest allegedly then refused to cooperate with officers while being detained at a CSPD substation by laying on the ground in a holding area and refusing to move. Officers tried to subdue Guest and get her to cooperate, and during that time, she kicked an officer in his leg, and another in his pelvic area, and tried to bite both of them.
CSPD said neither officer was injured during the confrontation, however, the arrest papers allege it was obvious that Guest was trying to injure the officers because she kept threatening that she would bite them and would try to kill them.
The arrest documents also state that Guest was believed to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and hospital staff who observed Guest agreed that she was likely under the influence due to raspy and incoherent speech, heightened aggression, and constricted pupils.
In addition to the charges Guest faced for her initial arrest, which include Kidnapping, First-Degree Assault, and Aggravated Robbery, she also now faces charges of Second-Degree Assault for the attempt to harm both officers during her arrest.
Guest is due in El Paso County Court on June 21.
