(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that on Monday, July 29, officers responded to reports of a naked man near the Colorado Springs Airport, when they located the man, he tried to snatch an officer’s gun.

According to CSPD, officers arrived at the 7000 block of Milton E Proby Parkway, East of South Powers Boulevard around 10 a.m., where they found the naked man. When they first contacted him, he complied with officers who escorted him to a secure room.

CSPD said that while in the room, the man attempted to snatch an officer’s handgun while it was holstered on his duty belt. The man was immediately placed into custody and charged with Public Indecency and Attempting to Disarm a Peace Officer. It was later determined that he was suffering from a mental health episode.
