(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is working to clear large rocks from Highway 24 near Manitou Springs following heavy rain earlier in the day on Monday, Aug. 12.
A rockslide was reported by CDOT around 7 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Highway 24 west of Manitou Springs on Monday evening, however FOX21’s crew on the scene reports that the rocks are on the westbound on-ramp west of Manitou Springs.
The rocks, some the size of a small car, reportedly blocked only a portion of the on-ramp, and the ramp was never closed, according to CDOT.
A CDOT truck can be seen in these photos from the scene, as well as cones and caution tape warning drivers of the obstruction. Drivers who must travel in the area should use reduced speed and watch for rocks and responding road crews.
