DENVER (KDVR) — It’s never too early to start talking about ski season in Colorado. While it’s not even fall, some local ski resorts have already announced their tentative opening dates.
On Wednesday, Vail Resorts announced dates for many mountains listed on the Epic Pass, with the earliest mountain expected to open in October.
2024/25 opening dates
Here are some of the opening dates for local mountains:
Mid-October: Keystone Resort, pending early season conditions
Nov. 8: Breckenridge Ski Resort
Nov. 15: Vail Mountain
Nov. 27: Beaver Creek Resort, Crested Butte Mountain Resort
Vail Resorts said these dates are subject to change depending on the weather.
Last year, the earliest ski areas opened in late October and early November. In 2023, Arapahoe Basin was the first to open on Oct. 29, then Keystone opened at the start of November.
This upcoming season, according to the announcement, Keystone plans on opening in mid-October, which is much earlier than last year and would be the earliest to open compared to the 2023 opening dates.
Meanwhile, Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek and Crested Butte plan to open around the same time in November, give or take a few days, compared to the opening dates in 2023.
