John Elway, Peyton Manning impressed by Bo Nix

CASTLE PINES, Colo. (KDVR) — It’s the most important position in football.

Hall of Famers John Elway and Peyton Manning know what it takes to succeed playing quarterback.

“Colorado Sports Night” caught up with the former Denver Broncos quarterbacks after they played in the BMW Championship Pro-Am on Wednesday afternoon and asked their reactions to Bo Nix being named as starting quarterback.

“Bo’s tremendously talented,” Elway said. “He’s played a lot of college football. He’s ahead of the curve when it comes to (playing). I think Sean Payton will be great for him. The offense that they run, I think they will protect him pretty well and run the ball well. Bo’s a mature guy. It will be fun to see him work. Sean knows how to develop quarterbacks, and he’ll keep him in the right situations and not put too much on him. He’ll improve week in and week out. It’s a big job from preseason to regular season. And I’m sure he’ll handle it well.”

“He’s had a great camp. Had a great off-season,” Manning said. “He’s used the time (at practice). He knew his experience, his maturity, would be an advantage for him, and he’s picked up the system quickly. You can tell. I saw Sean (Payton) on Monday, and he shared some things too. Just that Bo has really kind of answered his challenge and answered the bell. So happy for him. What a great opportunity. I know what that’s like, you know, starting as a rookie in your first NFL game. But he’ll be ready. And pulling hard for him.”
