Hanover Fire Department celebrates 50 years of service

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — On Saturday, Aug. 24 the Hanover Fire Department will celebrate 50 years of service to southeast El Paso County.

Hanover Fire Department said it was founded in 1974 to provide an organized way for the citizens of the District to protect themselves from the dangers of fire. Since then the fire department has broadened its duties to include fire prevention, medical, non-fire rescue, and responding to a variety of other hazardous situations.

The event will take place on Saturday at Kirk Hanna Park located at 17050 South Peyton Highway from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hanover Fire Department said past and current members along with the community, surrounding fire and EMS agencies will be in attendance.

After an informal celebration ceremony, a hamburger and hotdog lunch and mingle will be held.
