Lending hand shovels driveway to help fire crews with rescue

(BLACK FOREST, Colo.) — Black Forest Fire and Rescue assisted the Falcon Fire Department with the rescue of an unconscious person.

On Sunday, Nov. 10 at around 7:46 a.m., Black Forest Fire, Falcon Fire Department, and AirLife responded to a report of an unconscious/fainting patient.

Upon arrival, crews found an unplowed driveway that was over .6 miles long. The reporting party drove the patient roughly .5 miles up the drive before becoming stuck in the knee-deep snow according to Black Forest Fire and Rescue. Crews were still able to trek through the snow and reach the patient.

A neighbor offered his tractor, and was able to help plow the drive and help get the reporting party’s truck out and ‘into better conditions.’

“This is why a strong community is so important. If it were your emergency, you would want us to get to you as quickly as possible,” Black Forest Fire and Rescue wrote via Facebook. “Seconds count when our firefighters need to get to you. So please keep helping each other to clear driveways.”
