Minor arrested allegedly kicked and spat on officers

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A minor arrested after an alleged burglary of a business allegedly kicked and spat on officers during their arrest, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, Dec. 3 officers were called to a burglary of a business in the 6500 block of North Academy Boulevard near Dublin Boulevard. According to police, a car was driven into the front of a business causing about $10,000 worth of damage. Four suspects then got out of the car and stole vape products valued at about $2,000, then left the area in a second car.

Investigators with the Metro Burglary Unit conducted an investigation and identified one of the suspects, allegedly a minor boy who was taken into custody at around 1 p.m.

CSPD said during the boy’s arrest, he kicked two officers and spit at a third officer. The suspect was taken into custody on charges of motor vehicle theft, burglary, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, obstruction, and assault on a peace officer.

According to CSPD, the minor had been arrested and released four times in 2024 for offenses including reckless endangerment, assault, trespass, and failing to appear in court proceedings. The most recent release was on Nov. 26 to a parent or guardian on a personal recognizance bond.
