(PUEBLO, Colo.) — To celebrate its third year in Pueblo, Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center will host its Salute to Heroes commemoration on Thursday, Jan. 9.
The commemoration will feature guest speaker Colonel (Retired) Jeff Chostner, an Air Force veteran with nearly 22 years of service, along with Medal of Honor recipient Drew Dix, who lives in Pueblo, and Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Gradisher will also be on-site to sign autographs.
“This event highlights the service of veterans in Pueblo and honors the memories of Pueblo’s five Medal of Honor recipients,” said Sal Katz, a retired Army command sergeant major and director of rural Colorado services for Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. “We owe these veterans – and many like them – a debt we cannot repay. We also hope this annual event will provide support for Mt. Carmel as we continue to provide services to veterans and their families.”
Salute to Heroes is dedicated to those who serve, while also highlighting the importance of community support for Mt. Carmel, according to Executive Director Bob McLaughlin.
“We are honored to support veterans in Pueblo and rural Colorado,” he said. “We want people to understand our crucial mission in Pueblo and will support us as we serve those who served.”
The event will take place Thursday at 4 p.m. at Pueblo Community College.
