(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — Get ready to throw, toss, and celebrate the 30th Annual Great Fruitcake Toss in Manitou Springs on Saturday, Feb. 1!

The magnificent history of the misunderstood fruitcake

This quirky event is packed with fun activities, competitions, and a whole lot of fruitcakes. Taking place at Memorial Park in Manitou Springs from 12 to 3 p.m., this annual tradition is back for a day of family-friendly fun. Event manager Jenna Gallas of Visit Manitou Springs shared all the exciting details on FOX21’s Loving Living Local.

The event, presented by Collin Street Bakery, the world’s #1 fruitcake bakery, features four exciting competitions: Distance, Accuracy, Balance, and BasketCake. Local bakers will also showcase their skills in a fruitcake bake-off.

Kids and adults of all ages are encouraged to participate in the tosses. There are even prizes for winners in all age groups and all four categories. Plus, be on the lookout for the crowning of the Fruitcake King & Queen, a beloved tradition.

Participants are encouraged to bring canned goods or non-expired non-perishables (up to 10 items) to trade for tickets to throw a fruitcake. The donations will benefit the Manitou Springs Community Food Pantry, which helps those in need.
